They take for granted what they are told, taught or shown because they were led to believe what they know. The fact is that what is taught is not always right, correct, or true. The education system is not necessarily poorly structured, but it can certainly be improved. The media buys its news material from news sources. That is why what is published on different channels is similar but not the same. You believe something because that is what you were led to believe, or taught, but that does not mean you know all the details surrounding what you learned. Some of that education may be wrong.
